Petition: Ndlambe Ratepayers Pledge

Dear Ndlambe Mayor and Councilors

I, the undersigned Ratepayer of Ndlambe,

Resolve to hold the Ndlambe Municipality fully to account for aligning municipal rates and service charges with the 5-year, SALGA-negotiated wage deal for municipal workers.

The agreed wage increases are reasonable and necessary to help municipal workers manage their expenses and avoid financial hardship. By aligning municipal rates and service charges with these wage increases, we aim to ensure a fair balance between the needs of municipal workers and the financial burdens on ratepayers.

In practical terms this means municipal workers wages, rates, and service charges must be set as follows: 2024/2025: 6%, 2025/2026 and 2026/2027: CPI + 0.75%, 2027/2028 and 2028/2029: CPI + 1.25%

We urge the Mayor and Council of Ndlambe to urgently enter constructive dialogue with Ndlambe ratepayers to resolve the tradeoffs necessary to achieve this objective.
