Ndlambe published the 3 tables shown below for Alexandria, Port Alfred, and the Overall electricity losses for Q1-Q3 2023/24
These data were presented to an unquestioning council with erroneous conclusions and create a misleading impression.
The data for Alexandria is clearly wrong. How can 33% more electricity be sold than was purchased? Even worse how can the conclusion be that “Most of the losses are incurred in Alexandria”.
The Alexandria data is manifestly incorrect and in fact shows a net gain, a physical impossibility. Combining these data with that of Port Alfred in the 3rd table helps to mask the high losses in Port Alfred, which is unfortunate.
Lastly the 18% losses in Port Alfred are attributed to “old infrastructure” even though the industry norm is 8%. This explanation is highly unlikely to be correct and Ratepayers Revolt is left wondering what malfeasance is being covered up.
